What Does The Sony Reader Pocket Edition (PRS-350SC) Look Like?
Sony Reader Pocket Edition PRS-350 SC Review
The Sony Reader Pocket Edition PRS-350 SC was introduced in September of 2010, replacing the PRS-300 (which was meant to be an affordable entry-level reader device, with a similar user-interface to the PRS-500 and PRS-505 models, and 200 dpi on a screen smaller than the PRS-600, but no touch interface, no MP3 audio, and no expandable memory).
The Sony Reader Pocket Edition PRS-350 SC overcomes the difficulties that are common to other models on the market. It has been re-designed so an aluminum casing surrounds the new E-Ink Pearl display (which is a whopping five inches wide!), so it feels sturdy but not bulky.
The Pocket Edition's slimmer size (104.3 x 145 x 8.5 mm) and trimmer weight (only 155 g!) make it even easier to hold than a Kindle or a Nook, so you don't have to worry about dropping it like other more cumbersome readers, which are nowhere near as sleek.
The Sony Reader Pocket Edition PRS-350 SC does all this without any loss of sensitivity. The user-friendly touchscreen is incredibly responsive, so flipping through pages is a breeze requiring only a slight swipe across the smooth screen, while swapping between books and navigating the menus needs only the lightest tap.
These updates alone make the Sony Reader Pocket Edition PRS-350 SC one of the top 5 readers money can buy.
Sony Reader Pocket Edition PRS-350 SC Features
The Sony Reader Pocket Edition PRS-350 SC has a slim, sleek design (measuring 104.3 by 145 by 8.5 mm, and weighing only 155 g), yet it has an impressive five-inch touchscreen with 16 levels of grayscale, displayed at a resolution of 800 by 600 pixels, it responds to the faintest touch and is even readable in direct sunlight.
The Sony Reader Pocket Edition PRS-350 SC supports a variety of e-book formats (PDF, RTF, TXT, Microsoft Word, EPUB & BBeB), which can be read in either portrait or landscape mode using 6 different font sizes (XS - XXL).
It has a sealed internal battery that provides an amazing two weeks worth of reading from only a single charge, as it does not use any electricity to display a static image, and also comes with two gigabytes (2 GB) of flash memory built-in.
The Sony Reader Pocket Edition PRS-350 SC is the silver-color model, and it is also available in pink! (the PRS-350PC)
